This gentleman cuts quite a fine figure for your Day of the Dead collection. He was handcrafted of cartoneria or paper mache in Mexico City. In addition to his charming bow tie, he is sporting a special manicure for the celebrations!
The Catrin is a well dressed dandy who is the counterpart of the lady Catrina who has become an icon for Day of the Dead in Mexican culture.
The catrina & catrin originate from an etching created by Jose Guadalupe Posada, a sarcastic commentary on upper class society and an apparent obsession with European materialism and culture. They have become rehabilitated into Mexican national symbols.
